  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and butter a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. Pour boiling water over the dried dates and add baking soda; let sit for 10 minutes before pureeing.
  3. In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg; in another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy, then add eggs and date puree.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently; pour into the prepared dish and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. While baking, make the toffee sauce by melting butter in a saucepan and stirring in brown sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
