Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly butter an 11 x 8-inch casserole dish.
  2. Soak chopped dates in hot milk mixed with baking soda; set aside for 15 minutes.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in one bowl. In another bowl, beat eggs, then mix with butter and dark brown sugar using a food processor.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture along with the soaked dates until smooth.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared dish and bake for about 30 minutes until golden.
  6. For the caramel sauce, melt butter, brown sugar, and salt before adding cream; simmer until thickened.
