Instructions

  1. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Sauté 1/2 cup of chopped onion, 2-3 chopped carrots, and 3 sliced celery stalks until softened (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in 8 cups of chicken broth and add 2 pounds of shredded chicken. Stir well.
  5. Season with salt, black pepper, bay leaves, and dried parsley; bring to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl; grate in cold butter, then gradually stir in milk to form dough.
  7. Drop dumpling dough into boiling soup; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
